Dr. Valerie Okakpu

Optometrist (Concord)

A California native, Dr. Okakpu was raised in Santa Clara, CA. Education has always been a priority for Dr. Okakpu, as she graduated summa cum laude with a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry. Prior to that, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology, also summa cum laude, from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Dr. Okakpu brings extensive clinical expertise across multiple areas of optometry, such as primary eye care, pediatric optometry, contact lenses, and ocular disease management. She has worked alongside ophthalmologists and primary care physicians to deliver comprehensive care for patients with complex eye conditions, including the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. Dr. Okakpu also has extensive experience in providing pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries, such as LASIK and cataract removal.

Dr. Okakpu actively participates in professional organizations and holds memberships in prestigious associations, such as the American Optometric Association (AOA), National Optometric Association (NOA) and Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society.

In her free time, Dr. Okakpu enjoys exploring various flavors and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. Beyond her culinary adventures, she also enjoys reading a good book, dancing and exploring different cultures and destinations.
